7 feared dead in Nigerian air force passenger plane crash

Just outside Abuja airport, a small Nigerian air force passenger plane crashed due to engine failure on Sunday, killing all seven people on board, the air force said.

“First responders are at the scene. Sadly, all 7 personnel on board died in the crash,” said Ibikunle Daramole, spokesman for the air force, in a statement.

After claiming engine failure en route to Minna, the Beechcraft KingAir B350i aircraft crashed while returning to the Abuja airport, he said. Around 110 kilometers (68 miles) northwest of Abuja lies the city of Minna.

According to Reuters, dozens of military and airport officials sorted through the burned remains of the airplane in the scrubland just outside the airport perimeter.
