Tanzania: President Samia Suluhu reshuffles cabinet
Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has named veteran diplomat Liberata Mulamula to replace Professor Palamagamba Kabudi as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Wednesday.
Before her new role, Ms Mulamula was the ministry’s permanent secretary. She was the first executive secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), and served as Tanzania’s ambassador to the United States.
Mr Kabudi was transferred to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs on Wednesday, taking over from Mwigulu Nchemba, who will now be in charge of the Ministry of Finance and Planning, which was left vacant following the appointment of Philip Mpango as vice president.
President Suluhu declared the changes after Dr. Mpango was sworn in at State House in Dodoma, Tanzania’s capital.
Hussein Matanga, Tanzania’s ambassador to Japan, was also appointed as her new Chief Secretary, succeeding Bashiru Ally, who will be one of her nominated members of parliament.
Mr. Ally, the former General Secretary of the CCM, had only been in the role for a month.
