Zimbabwe Calls On Tenders for Oxygen Supply as COVID Cases Surge

The Ministry of Health in Zimbabwe invited tenders to supply its medical facilities with oxygen as the number of coronavirus infections surged.

The request has been made for hospitals already facing strain from a shortage of beds and equipment, according to Bloomberg Africa, which threatens to overwhelm the weak public-health system of the nation.

In an advertisement published in the state-owned Herald newspaper, the tender closes Jan 18., the ministry said. However, Portia Manangazira, the ministry’s director of epidemiology and control of diseases, declined to comment.

According to Health Ministry data, Zimbabwe has recorded 23,239 Covid-19 cases and 551 fatalities.
